Due to heavy rain in the Bridgnorth area a number of properties and roads have been affected by localised flooding.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service resources have been deployed into the Bridgnorth area – these currently include both SFRS boats as well as a number of SRT (Swift Water Rescue) trained personnel, along with water first responders.
Rescues have included a 90 year old male from his car, as well as 2 females and a dog from other vehicles.
Further heavy rain is forecast for this afternoon so resources will remain in the area for the rest of the day.
Local people should prepare as best they can by staying upstairs if flood water is affecting their property.
If they are unaffected they should consider moving themselves and valuables to upper floors as the day progresses.
If roads are flooded people are advised not to attempt to drive through water as depths may be greater than normally expected.
Due to the number of calls we are currently receiving, requests for help to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service should be limited to life-threatening situations. We appreciate people will have concerns for their property, however the threat to life is our main priority at this time.
