Lisa shares how she became an on-call firefighter after her daughter was in a collision

Lisa Baer, 53-years-old from Prees has shared her story of becoming an on-call firefighter with her local fire station.

Lisa is a full time Financial Controller in Law Exports and decided to become part of the Service after her daughter was involved in a serious road traffic collision.

She said: “It was my way of giving something back to the community and my way of thanking Prees Fire station for cutting her out of the vehicle.

“Being able to save people and their homes is such an honour to me. I want to get people out of dangerous situations and provide them with the help and care they need. I’m a very compassionate person which drives me in an all circumstances we come across.

“If you’re considering joining, just go for it. Follow your dreams, as it is the most rewarding job out there with lots of excitement.

“The training you receive is absolutely phenomenal, with ongoing support and development throughout your career.”
