On Thursday the 11th of March personnel from Market Drayton, Hodnet, Wellington and Incident Command Shrewsbury were formally recognised by Anthony Marsh, Chief Ambulance officer of West Midlands Ambulance Service for their efforts in the rescue and successful resuscitation of an elderly female casualty at an RTC in Market Drayton in October 2009.
The incident which occurred in Frogmore Road, Market Drayton resulted in two persons being in collision with a car. The car subsequently collided with Market Drayton town hall demolishing part of the wall and trapping the female casualty under the vehicle. Crews attending the scene carried out a rescue of the female casualty using lifting equipment and were engaged in the lengthy and arduous administration of trauma care and resuscitation along with an off duty Community First Responder until the arrival of Paramedics.
At a formal awards ceremony at the Copthorne hotel, Brierley Hill, the following crew members received a personal thank you and a formal Chief Ambulance Officer's commendation for their actions on that day.
