Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at an industrial unit on Halefield 19 at 5.25pm on Sunday 11 July. A large amount of wooden pallets bins and containers were alight outside the factory causing a propane cylinder to explode in the heat. The force of this blast blew a hole in both the wall of the factory and the roller shutter door, setting fire to items inside the factory.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated by the Police and Fire Investigators, but it is believed that the cylinder may have been moved from another area. If anyone has any information about this fire they are asked to contact West Mercia Police or Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111.
We are urging owners of industrial units to ensure that pallets and skips are stored away from premises and any gas cylinders are kept in a secure area in the open.
