Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is currently in attendance at a significant barn fire in Bridgnorth.
The Service was called at 11.55am today (Friday 11 march) to Kingsnordley and crews from Bridgnorth, Telford, Tweedale, Craven Arms, Prees, Wellington, Shrewsbury and Albrighton have been tackling the flames with hose reel jets and main jets while also using the aerial ladder platform.
We also have over the border assistance from Stourbridge, Wombourne and Wyre Forest crews.
One man has suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
No animals are involved in the incident, but there are a number of chemicals in the building. We have been working closely with the Environment Agency to assess the water run off and the impact of the incident.
We are expecting to be at the scene for some time and ask members of the public to avoid the area and check before you travel as there are road closures in place.
Although the fire is under control, there is still a considerable smoke plume and we advise people nearby keep windows and doors shut as a precautionary measure.
