A Charity Auction Night held by a team of local Firefighters has successfully raised a staggering £2,200 for the Macmillan Cancer Relief, Hope House and Fire Services National Benevolent Fund charities.
The firefighters' held the event to aid fundraising efforts for their forthcoming charity bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats in May.
The evening took place at the Lion Hotel, Shrewsbury and attracted in excess of 100 guests who bid for a variety of lots including flying trips, golfing tickets, hair and beauty treatments and fishing equipment and holiday.
The auctioneer for the evening was Station Officer Tony Derricutt of Fire Safety, who did a tremendous job keeping the audience focused and reaching for their wallets.
The star prize of the raffle was an adults mountain bike. All the people who sponsored the riders were entered for the draw. The bike was generously donated by Tony Barnes of Bishops Castle and was won by the father of one of the riders, Kev Rogers.
A buffet was provided with the event culminating in a disco courtesy of Charlie Cartwright of Newport Retained/Community Fire Safety.
The evening was enjoyed by all and the team would like to thank everybody who attended and gave their support to the event. Additionally, the team would like to thank everybody who has contributed towards their charity cycle ride.
The team is due to leave Shrewsbury Fire Station for Land's End on Friday 5th May at 8am.
