During the last week of September each year we conduct free electric blanket testing. This year we held sessions in Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth. Councillor Jean Jones, Fire Authority member, popped in to give her support at a couple of the sessions. She found it very interesting and didn’t realise how popular electric blankets still are. RMW Electrical of Shrewsbury tested 82 altogether with 16 failing. Alison Teece, from the prevention department said “we do generally expect an average of 25% failure rate each year. They can fail on things such as damaged cables, age or dislodged heating elements.”
At the sessions those attending picked up valuable fire safety and general home safety information.
