The Wrekin was the spectacular setting for a dramatic joint training exercise involving firefighters and a cave rescue team.
In a carefully staged re-construction, a climber was left dangling from his rope after becoming stuck on a sheer cliff face.
Firefighters from Telford and Wellington set up equipment at the top of cliff and used it to lower a member of the Midlands Cave Rescue team down to the stranded climber.
Soon afterwards the climber and the cave rescue team member were safely lowered to the ground.
“It was a very useful joint exercise and gave firefighters and the cave rescue team an opportunity to work side by side in a very realistic setting and scenario,” said firefighter, Mark Smith, afterwards.
