On Monday (Sept 25) we hosted Brigadier Afzal Malik (Principal of the Army Public School and College in Rawalpindi, Pakistan) and his daughter Erum Afzal, a lecturer at Rawalpindi City College.
Father and daughter came to the UK to visit the Hadley Learning Community and popped into Wellington fire station, as Mr Malik was interested in how organisations outside of education contribute to pupils educational plans. We then presented our schools programme to the pair, a programme our staff deliver to pupils in the county.
"I’m impressed with the educational approach that the Fire Service takes in educating young people and the role they play in making students better citizens" Mr Malik said.
“This joint approach in educating young people is something that I would like to see develop and would look at ways to see how this could be developed in my school in Pakistan” he added.
Mr Malik and daughter Erum Afzal thanked SFRS staff Rabinder Dhami and Muhammad Younis for their hospitality and for their experience at Wellington fire station.
