On 1 October 2006 a new piece of legislation was introduced into the UK to help safeguard all workplace premises from fire. Chief Fire Officer Paul Raymond talks to BBC Radio Shropshire about the average 3 pence per week council tax precept increase and the pressures that Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service are experiencing due to further cuts.

Chief Fire Officer Paul Raymond and Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Authority chairman Stuart West talk to BBC Radio Shropshire about how further spending cuts would hit Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service after a visit from Sir Ken Knight who is carrying out a spending review of 15 English fire brigades including Shropshire.

Sir Ken Knight visited Shropshire today to carry out a spending review at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service which has already slashed £4.5 million from its £20 million annual budget.
