Personnel from Prees Fire Station recently held a very successful charity bingo evening in Prees with a total of £1400 being raised, the money was divided between three Charities.

The Charities to benefit were:

  • The Fire-Fighters Charity £600
  • Midlands Air Ambulance £400
  • Royal National Life Boats Institute £400

This morning Fire Control for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a large volume of emergency calls to flooding across the South of Shropshire.

We responded by rapidly mobilizing specially trained crews to the area to support existing personnel already deployed. Twelve fire engines, four off road vehicles and two specialist rescue boats were part of the resources deployed. With the recent heavy rain and localised flooding, motorists across Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire are being urged to take care and exercise caution. Localised flooding has occurred which is affecting normal driving routes across the three Counties.

Due to heavy rain in the Bridgnorth area a number of properties and roads have been affected by localised flooding.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service resources have been deployed into the Bridgnorth area – these currently include both SFRS boats as well as a number of SRT (Swift Water Rescue) trained personnel, along with water first responders.

Rescues have included a 90 year old male from his car, as well as 2 females and a dog from other vehicles.

At 2:34am on the 27th June 2012 Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to a person reported property fire at Newstart supported housing scheme, 18 – 24 Revlow Court, Brunel Road, Telford TF4 2DS.

Three fire appliances from Telford Central, Tweedale and Wellington were sent to the incident. On arrival the crew were faced with a severe fire in a first floor bedroom.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a community building in Newport was set alight, causing extensive damage.

The Parish Rooms in New Street was discovered on fire at around 2.30am on Sunday (24 June) by a security guard working in the town.

He flagged down a passing police patrol who called Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A pilot partnership project between Shropshire Council and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service aims to improve the safety of council tenants by carrying out home visits for the over 75's in the Bridgnorth area.
