Fire crews across Shropshire are today celebrating another successful safety campaign running up to bonfire night.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has run a campaign, with the help of both police and local authorities, to reduce the number of uncontrolled bonfires over the past four years.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended a property fire in Shawfield Close, Sutton Hill, Telford at 6.49pm Tuesday 30th October 2012. Crews from Tweedale, Telford, Wellington and an Aerial Ladder Platform attended the scene which involved the 1st floor of a 3 storey property. The property was empty at the time and the fire is being treated as suspicious.

The Oswestry Annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday, 3rd November at 7.00pm.

This year Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club and the firefighters have teamed up to arrange a Lantern Parade through the town starting from Festival Square at 6.30pm, and will wind its way along Church Street and up Willow Street to Brogyntyn Park.

Additional fireworks have been purchased and it promises to be the most spectacular display in memory.

The annual West Mid Bonfire and Fireworks Extravaganza will be held on Sunday November 4th, 2012, and is set to be bigger and better than ever before.
