At 16:13 on Thursday, 11 January, 2024, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as Fuel Leak/Spillage Large in Whitchurch.

2 fire appliances including the Environmental Protection Unit were mobilised from Albrighton, Tweedale and Wem. Operations and Hazmat officers were in attendance.

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Environment Agency, the Highways Agency, Shropshire Council and a utility company.

Articulated lorry carrying 300 litres of diesel fuel has been damaged and leaked approximately 250 litres of fuel onto road and car park. Crews used Environment Pod for containment purposes.

1 bungalow involved in fire, 2 dogs and 1 parrot rescued by Fire Service Personnel.

6 fire appliances including the Aerial Ladder Platform and the Incident Command Unit were mobilised from Ellesmere, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Tweedale. Operations, Safety and Principal officers were in attendance.

Crews used the following equipment to tackle the fire:

• 9/10.5m ladder
• Breathing Apparatus (BA)
• Covering jet
• Dry powder extinguisher
• Hosereel jet
• Main jet
• Small gear
• Thermal imaging camera

Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service , the Police and Shropshire Council.

This incident involves fire in roof space. All persons accounted for. Assistance from North Wales fire service. Fire has now been extinguished crews used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.

Crews responding to report of RTC persons trapped. On arrival two casualties were out of the vehicle and in the care of Ambulance. Vehicle had overturned following collision with road furniture and street lighting. Crews made the vehicle safe.
