The Fire Authority's Statement of Purpose ensures that Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service exist to:
Save and protect life, property and the environment from fire and other emergencies
- provides a service to approximately 456,000 people in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin
- maintains 3 wholetime stations and 20 retained stations, Service Headquarters in Shrewsbury and a training and development centre in Telford
- employs approximately 610 staff
- responds to 4,500 (circa) incidents per year
- visited over 4,800 homes and fitted over 4,000 smoke alarms
