We say farewell to Firefighting Legend after Four decades

Trevor Willams or ‘Trev the Egg’, as he is endearingly known by those that have served with him, has dedicated 40 years of his life to being an On-Call Firefighter and Watch Manager at Clun Fire Station.

He has spent four decades ‘juggling’ his firefighting career with his role as a partner in a family poultry farm business along with his homelife, what a massive achievement!

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service bid farewell to Adrian Bowen

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service wish to say a fond farewell to one of its finest On-Call Firefighters, Adrian Bowen.

Adrian is retiring after serving 32 years as Firefighter and Watch Manager at Oswestry Fire Station.

His firefighting career began when a Royal Mail work colleague encouraged him to sign up. As he had always admired the local firefighters, he knew that it was something he had to do.  

Evening of celebration for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at Theatre Severn

Theatre Severn hosted a long service and good conduct awards ceremony on Monday 17 June for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) staff.

Honoured on the night were 16 recipients of the Long Service and Good Conduct award, presented to employees in recognition of 20, 30 or 40 years of exemplary service; including former SFRS Chief Fire Officer Rod Hammerton.

SFRS teams take part in National Breathing Apparatus Challenge

Two teams from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service took part in the National Breathing Apparatus Challenge (NBAC) on Saturday 7 October at the Fire Service College in Gloucestershire. The NBAC is an annual competition designed to test firefighters’ from around the UK on their breathing apparatus and ground crewing abilities.

Theatre Severn hosted a long service and good conduct awards ceremony last night (Monday 2 October) for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) staff.

Honoured on the night were 42 recipients of the Long Service and Good Conduct, presented to employees in recognition of 20, 30 or 40 years of exemplary service.

Before presenting the medals Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner JP, said:

“It’s always an honour and a privilege to meet people like yourselves and convey the appreciation of the people of Shropshire for all that you do”

New on-call firefighters honoured at evening of celebration

Last night (Monday 25 July) Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury hosted an evening of awards and celebration for the latest batch of on-call firefighter recruits to join Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Friends and family were invited along to see the 26 firefighters receive their certificates, with a select few being awarded the silver axe for top student on their course.
