Community Involvement Opportunity – tell us what’s important to you!

Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) Involvement Session

Many of you will not know what IRMP means and how it affects you, this is the planning process for how Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service makes decisions on its priorities in the future.

We want minority community groups to get involved with this process and tell us what’s important to you.

We have 2 sessions taking place on:

Shropshire Fire Crews lend a hand to flood-stricken South Yorkshire

Following rainfall described as “not far from biblical” by one emergency contractor, a Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crew have been deployed to South Yorkshire to assist with the resulting severe flooding in the Doncaster area. Doncaster Council warned some residents to evacuate their homes because the River Don was breaching its banks near St Oswald Church at Kirk Sandall.

Craven Arms Fire Station Christmas Lights Night Celebration

Join us for an evening of festivities at Craven Arms Fire Station after the switching on of the Christmas lights in the square!

There will be lots going on to keep the whole family entertained:

  • Santa’s Grotto
  • Facepainting
  • Coconut shy
  • Real reindeer
  • Hot food
  • Fire safety information
  • Stalls
  • Refreshments
  • And much more!

Drop in and start the festive season in style.

Christmas lights switch on: 6:30pm.

Festival of Carols

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service cordially invite you to celebrate the festive season in style at St. Chad's Church, Shrewsbury at 7pm.

This service is open to all, and will include:
- Carols
- Raffle
- A visit from a special guest!

Following this, refreshments will then be served at Shrewsbury Fire Station from 8:15pm.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service Pleased and Proud to be Rated as “good” across the Board

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has been rated as “good” in all 3 inspection areas; for effectiveness, efficiency and the way it treats its staff.  This assessment has come from a recent inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabularies and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) who said the Service had “managed to maintain strong operational performance while achieving savings; reducing its spend by £3 million since 2012” and they “look forward to seeing the Service build on this already impressive performance.”

The Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017 requires us as an organisation with 250 or more employees to publish annual statutory figures in relation to the gender pay gap.  We are committed to publishing this information annually on both the government website and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service’s website. 

Action Packed Open Day at Shrewsbury Fire Station

 

Hundreds of visitors attended an action packed open day at Shrewsbury Fire Station which raised more than £600 for the Fire Fighters charity.

Vivid demonstrations and displays throughout the day helped to get over important messages to the public about fire safety, road safety and how everyone should always have a smoke alarm in the home, said organiser Neil Maguire, Watch Manager on Red Watch at the Shrewsbury station.

Fun Packed Open Day at Shrewsbury Fire Station on August 18

 

A fun packed open day is forecast at Shrewsbury Fire Station on Saturday, August 18 with a host of eye opening activities for all the family.

Practical demonstrations of firefighter skills and equipment will show how they rescue people in emergencies alongside advice for the public to prevent house fires.

Special fire appliances and rescue equipment will be at the open day at the St Michael Street station during the open day which runs from 10am until 4pm.

Fun at the Fire Station for Children from Chernobyl

 

It was a fun evening at a Shropshire fire station for children from Chernobyl during an annual visit to the county.

Shrewsbury firefighters from Blue Watch, put on an evening of entertainment for ten youngsters aged between eight and 12, which included playing with water from fire hoses.

The eight boys and two girls were given a VIP tour of the fire station, shared dinner with the fire crew and were presented with goody bags and suitcases packed with gifts for their return journey.
