The Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia is today launching a new campaign, aimed at motorcycle riders, to help reduce casualties and deaths on the region's roads.

The annual fire safety quiz run by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is hotting up as the top ten Shropshire schools go through to the county finals on April 22.

Each school has won its own regional heat or came runner up to qualify for the prestigious final being held at Telford fire station competing for a top prize of £500.

Two light aircraft had collided on landing at Sleap Aerodrome, was the call received by fire control. Information followed that one aircraft was on fire and there were two casualties trapped in the other aircraft. The rescue of Shropshire motorists trapped in the wreckage of their cars after a road crash has been given a major boost with a new specialist rescue tender for county firefighters.
